Nasreen Begum

From the Artist: "I started working on the “Door” series in 1991. The “Door of a New Life” watercolors symbolizes problems, limitations, resistance, fear, handicap, hesitation, and mystery. In the path of life, the door is the symbol of the beginning. Door is the starting point, you have to open a closed-door to begin. The door is symbolic of freedom, freedom of mind and life. Opening a close door, you not only see the open sky and the open field, but you also see the endless eternity of your inner door. All life around us is part of our existence. In this series, I depict the free flying birds, snails, and leaves to capture this integration."
